Why I Choose to Serve

I’m often asked why, after retiring from a three-decade career at Honda, I decided to run for office.

It's a fair question. The truth is, I never planned to.

As I got closer to retirement, I spent a lot of time thinking about what came next. I always knew I wanted to spend that chapter of my life serving others and, in some small way, leaving my community better than I found it.

I never imagined that service would come through elected office.

Some of my most meaningful moments at Honda weren't about promotions or titles. They were about being part of work worth doing, working alongside talented teammates to solve problems that none of us could solve alone.

That's exactly how I feel about serving in the Ohio House.

The issues are different, but the feeling is remarkably familiar. Instead of improving the factory floor, I'm now working with people across Ohio to improve our communities.

Looking back, I don't think I retired.

I simply found another way to serve.

Over the coming weeks, I'd like to share more of my journey, the people I've met along the way, and some of the experiences that continue to shape how I serve.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to get to know me.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve.
